Introduction
The Mental Health First Aid training teaches you how to support individuals who may be developing a mental problem, illness, or experiencing a mental health crises.
A basic understanding of mental health is fundamental to the life skills needed for today’s society. Government departments, schools, workplaces, hospitals, community organizations and families are all now actively embracing Mental Health First Aid training. MHFA is a 12 hour course, auspiced through the university of Melbourne that comes with an internationaly recognised certificate and it's own manual.
Training for Health Professionals
As a caring and responsible professional you want to educate yourself to be the best that you can be for your clients and fellow workers. In complement to General First Aid, MHFA is an essential component of your training. Time invested gives you the opportunity to come together with other professionals and review information in the context of first aid allowing for a deeper understanding and integration. Many trainings fall short of essential information in mental health yet the work involved demands this understanding. Inevitably at some point you will experience a crisis situation or be in the position where you could possibly prevent a crisis from developing. Many government departments, hospitals and organizations now incorporate MHFA in their overall training, professional development and continuing education.
